I’ve been using this wake-up light for a while now, and am very satisfied so far. I really wake up some minutes before the set alarm time and getting up from the bed is much easier. You can also adjust the maximum brightness of the lamp to tune your wake up moment, if you find out that you wake up too early because of the bright lamp.
Amazon indeed states on their sites currently (Jan 6, 2011) that the device includes 2 wake-up sounds. That is not correct. The device has 1 wake-up sound only. I was aware of this, when I bought the device (not from Amazon). I was bit worried that the sound would be something unpleasant, but it turned out that the chime is kind of oriental Brian Eno -style calm melody that is just perfect for waking up. I had a couple of years ago another Philips model that had all the nature sounds, but actually this melody suits me better than the birds singing.
It’s worthwhile to check the prices for other models though, sometimes there’s not a huge price difference between this and the more advanced devices. So check out HF3470, HF3475 and Philips HF3480 Wake-Up Light with Radio Alarm before making your decision.

|Buyer beware,
After purchasing this item it worked fine for about five months , then i was stirred from my sleep by the sound of arcing , it seems the bulb had blown and the thing was about to catch fire , contacted phillips as it had a two year warranty they said they would contact me , big surprise i’m still waiting !! this is a dangerous product to have in a household it is a fire hazard and should be removed from sale until further tests are done . I certainly won’t be buying phillips again , poor customer service puts me off everytime

|Expected a bit better from Philips.,
The light itself is great and does what it is meant to. Makes waking up in the morning that little bit easier (although getting out of bed is still the hard bit!). What is disappointing is that there is an issue with the product description which states that you can wake up to 2 sounds even though there is only 1. The photographs show a picture of an ‘FM’ button suggesting that the second sound is the radio but this button doesn’t exist! Not great considering the price of this item. Even more annoying is the fact that the unit won’t allow me to completely turn off the sound which is set. Although you can turn the volume down to ‘off’, it seems to re-set itself every morning back to ’1′ which I can still hear. Expected a bit better from a Philips product.
