Pretty good but has one fairly significant flaw.,
I bought this because I’m affected by changes in weather, and even a couple of days of cloud and darkness can leave me in a pretty deep funk if I’m not careful to do something to alleviate it, like vigorous exercise. I had been thinking about purchasing a lamp for SAD for years but whenever I checked out prices they seemed to be incredibly expensive, and until I found this one (they were £35, now £49 for some reason) I had resigned myself to the fact that I couldn’t afford one.
Firstly I ought to say that this is really effective at what it does. It’s very, very bright. An hour sitting right in front of it in the morning after I wake up makes a very big difference to my day if the weather is bad, so I’m very pleased with my purchase.
However, I’ve realised that the reason it is so much cheaper than other SAD lights is that it doesn’t resynthesize the mains frequency to alleviate flicker, so while the lamps that cost 3 or 4 times as much as this put out about the same amount of light they don’t noticeably flicker because they contain electronics that shift the flicker outside of our range of perception. Sitting a foot away from this you can REALLY see it flickering, which is a bit straining on the eyes. Still, if you can’t afford a more expensive lamp then this is a very good compromise, and even with the flicker it’s better than not having it.

|What a relief!!,
I originate from South Africa and although I have been in the UK for 10 years now, I still suffer greatly when the days are short and the sky disappears. Recently this has got worse because I work alone from home and my north facing office gets no direct sunlight. I received my daylight lamp a few days ago and what an absolute difference – my office is as bright as a south african sunroom (without the heat!). I dont face the lamp for 20-30 minutes as recommended, I find it very bright and so prefer to have it on a longer time but illuminating the whole room, so it hangs on the wall behind and slightly to the side of me. The white light also makes it really easy to work with computer screens. It seems to clear my mind and give me all the energy that I need to get through a healthy working day. I recommend this to anyone who feels down in the winter – there is really no need to let the darkness get to you!!

|Do not heitae –BUY IT,
I have had this lamp for a week now and find it does what is says it would.
My wife came home in the evening on the first day and noticed I was quite chipper and ‘awake’ whereas usually I would be snoozing.
We both use it each morning whilst having our breakfast and do honestly feel more awake and sparky.
I would recommend this lamp to everyone. We hang ours on the wall and it looks space-age right next to my computer screen and quite inobtrusive.
After a few minutes I don’t notice the light and can happily use my computer.
